Best resource of integrative medicine,
As a fourth year medical student at the UofA and spending a month doing an integrative medicine elective here, I discovered this book on the bookshelf of the integrative medicine office.
I am interested in CAM and I wanted one book on my bookshelf that would help integrate different alternative modalities along with Western medicine. I wanted a book that was up to date, had references, was written by someone who is very knowledgable in the field, and to-the-point. This is exactly what this book is. For any given disease/condition, he goes through the modalities that have been tried and he summaries the research for those modalities and then gives his opinion as to how strong he thinks the evidence is to support those modalities. I highly recommend it.

A must-read book for every physician. Integrative medicine does not deny allopatic medicine, nor points out every mistake of allopatic medicine just to support alternatives. It is a well balanced, evidence based book. Highly recomended

This is one of my favorite books. It is an evidence based textbook that provides useful and easy to acess information regarding both conventional and alternative medical treatments. There are also handouts that are great for patients to read.

Can love thrive when warped by the depression, the dust bowl, communists, WWI aftereffects, aloof President Hoover, militant General McArthur, and Washington DC Police Chief Glassford — all historically valid and vivid?
These are the colorful threads used to weave a fascinating and dynamic tapestry portraying the fabric of the United States in 1932, The Bonus March on Washington D.C. by WWI veterans with their families, and the attack of the US Army on peacefully assembled citizens. Those times were challenging to individuals, families, and the country. The problems of those times were in many ways similar to the problems of these times. What makes this story about the historical Bonus March so powerful is that it is told by someone close to the source who documents true events accurately and pulls us along with her likeable fictional characters. To reflect upon our country’s history is not only fascinating but always offers insight and lessons to be learned. This novel comes to life in the way an epic movie will move you.
The author has added some amazing photos handed down from her parents who lived during the depression era and who were actual Bonus Marchers themselves. As a child, Georgia Lowe grew up listening to first hand accounts of what it was like for the men and women who stood up for their rights and the hardships they endeared. Our government’s actions can be very surprising. This important information is preserved in a highly creative form of literature. A MUST READ!

History truly comes alive!! The Bonus was an eye-opening glimpse into a little-known series of events in US 20th century history.. The author’s parents were Bonus marchers from LA- author Georgia Lowe blends that background into a compelling read. It interweaves history,a love story or two and strong, memorable male and female characters.In the midst of the Depression, WW1 veterans sought their promised wartime bonus,only to be told they would be deferred til 1945. As this was unthinkable , they took action and descended en masse on Washington DC from across the USA.
Their cross-country journeys-the people & places & incidents they struggled through and the dramatic conclusion in DC are all excitingly described in this historical fiction-”faction” novel.This is a dynamic book and for not only those readers who lived through the Depression era but as well for many veterans. It also will resonate for many readers of all adult ages interested in social movements & history. There are haunting parallels betweem Hoover/FDR and Bush/Obama and many of the terifying losses of jobs, homes, lives that are occurring in present-day America.I urge you to read this story- -for yourself, your family and for our countrymen & women.
